I’m a Certified Holistic Nutritionist, CNP, Certified Pastry Chef, Home Cook and Novice Gardener, among many other things. Here on my blog, you will find advice for navigating the world of food and making just honest, good meals.
We’ve become so disconnected that we take for granted that good, simple, nutrient-dense, chemical-free food can provide us with good health, strong bodies, and clear minds.
Mother Earth is our source for all we need. Connecting with her is as simple as taking a few moments to think about how our food got to our table…how that first bite of your favourite food tastes and how it makes you feel. How we choose our foods, is our path to good health and well-being.
My goal is to share what was inherently passed down to me from my mother, and from her mother to her, to encourage you to reconnect with food by learning to understand food better, so you can have the confidence to make the best food choices for you. We are all different. We have different needs and there is no one diet that fits all.
I will be presenting, in a no-nonsense way, morsels of fundamental information and techniques that you will continually use to build on as you gain more knowledge of food and learn new skills in the kitchen.
And just like my mother taught me, I’ll show you how to use moderation and diversity to create balance in your food choices that will encourage good health. No excess. No deprivation. I want to show you the same kind of simplicity and peace of mind that our grandparents had when approaching food.
Be in harmony with Mother Earth. By her grace, we are able to live. She gives us our air, our water and our food.
Know that you and Mother Earth are one. All that is in you, all that you are made of comes from Mother Earth and can be supported, nourished and strengthened by what she provides for you.
Support her as she supports you. Recognize her for the Mother she is. Respect her. Appreciate her. Give gratitude.
Take only what you need. There’s enough for everyone.
Respect all that Mother Earth provides you. See its beauty. See its value to your health and well-being. Treat your food with kindness.
Respect the soils of the earth. It was a gift given to us by Mother Earth so that we may grow nourishing foods. Protect the soil for your future and for hers.
By respecting and caring for Mother Earth, we respect and care for ourselves.

If anyone of us even wants the slightest chance of getting healthy, the first thing you’ll need to do is clean out your kitchen of all the unhealthy foods. But where would you start? We all like to believe that our kitchens are full of healthy nutritious foods but most of us don’t even know that there are conspirators hiding in just about every ready-to-use, prepared product out there, and sugar is one of the biggest culprits. Sugar has so many different names that most people don’t even know they’re eating sugar.
Periodic cleansing is always a great idea…so why not now?? Twice a year is ideal so I like to do a little extra detox in the spring and fall. Always ease into it! Start off with a few small changes…drink more water, eat less sugar, add in some good hardy greens and fiber-rich foods, avoid alcohol, get moving, get outside, and don’t forget to breathe. Any small changes you make will have a great impact on how you feel and it could keep motivated to going!!

Knowing where and how to start making changes is often the hardest thing to do. Small morsels of changes over longer periods of time create long-lasting good habits and an easier road to improved health.
